We work with Government Departments in the UK and beyond, United Nations bodies, civil society and NGOs, European Parliament and others, to conduct primary social research in areas where greater clarity is needed to shape policy.
We have strong expertise in mixed methods, qualitative and quantitative primary research, grounded theory-based, systems and complexity-informed research methods and tools.
Examples include:
Exploratory Research to understand the risks of radicalisation in Central Asia, following the Taliban’s return in Afghanistan, commissioned by the UN Centre for Counter Terrorism. This involved qualitative research in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, collaborating on potential solutions with UNCCT
Primary research to understand the experiences and consequences of women and girls who have been exposed to Boko Haram in the Lake Chad region, commissioned by UN Women. This study involved a programme of qualitative interviews with victims of Boko Haram, local communities, NGOs and government interlocutors in several countries in the region.
Study to understand the challenges and opportunities for women in political decision-making in view of the next European elections. This involved a wide programme of qualitative data analysis with politicians, media agencies, NGOs and political parties across Europe, as well as statistical analyses to determine the ‘effect’ of gender on chances of election.
Study to understand women’s access to finance in the EU – involving qualitative data collection and analysis with women entrepreneurs, banks, investors and commerce institutions across Europe.
Study to understand the potential for specialist clinics for non pregnant women who have been victims of female genital mutilation.
